Late push lifts McMinn Central to 61-59 win at state tournament

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — An 11-6 run in the final three minutes helped top-ranked McMinn Central beat last year’s Class AA state champion Austin-East 61-59 in today’s girls’ state basketball tournament.

Junior Kylie Lambert led the Chargerettes with 20 points, while Madison Lee made 3-of-4 free throws in the final 49 seconds.

Austin-East’s Shy Marsh missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that could have won it for the Lady Roadrunners. McMinn Central (32-2) will play the winner of today’s Gibson County vs. Marshall County game in Friday’s semifinals at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern).
