Pauline Brawner

Pauline McDonald Brawner, 94, of Chattanooga, formerly of the Haysville Community in Macon County, Tenn., passed away Wednesday morning, March 5, 2008, at Park Ridge Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Peggy Brawner, Chattanooga; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, March 7, 2008 at 1 p.m. CST from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, Tenn., with Elder Jerry Boze officiating.

Interment will follow in Haysville Cemetery.

Robert Clayton

Robert Carl Clayton, 65, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, at a local hospital.

Kenneth Cofer

Kenneth Ray Cofer, 72, of Red Bank, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

A native of Rockwood, Kenneth was the son of the late Robert and Alice Cofer. He lived in Chattanooga most of his life. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired from Pacific International Express Truck Lines with 24 years of service. He attended Calvary Bible Church and was a member of Teamsters Local 515.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Phillip Cofer; a sister, Mary Podruchny; and a brother, Jim Baird.

He is survived by his wife, Nevada Cofer; daughters, Leigh Anne Topping, Wimberly Grant and Candace Goff; sister, Carol Bohannon; brother, Leonard Cofer; grandchildren, Brandon Geffre, Brian Cofer, Lauren, Catelyn and Meredith Topping, Heather Richardson, Haley Grant, Tyler Goff; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Chaplain (Major) William Holland officiating and Military Honors.

Antoinette Denise "Joy" Hughes Colvin, 45, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 1, 2008.

Willie Nathan Harris, 52, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

Mary Hutcheson

Mary McGill Browne Hutcheson, of Soddy-Daisy, a member of a North Hamilton County family, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in a local hospital.

She was born on March 15, 1919 and was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Soddy-Daisy, and a member of Mayflower Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #CD141. She was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School class of 1938, and a graduate of McKinze Business College. She was retired from Volunteer Sales Co. after 38 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parent, Paul and Gertrude McGill; husbands, Robert Browne and Frank Hutcheson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Meyer; brothers, Wallace McGill, David McGill; sisters-in-law, Ruth McGill, Doris McGill.

She is survived by her daughters, Dottie (Gene) Curvin, Mary (Jim) Balinger; stepchildren, Anne (Ernest) Hand, Frank (Sue) Hutcheson; grandchildren, Teresa Perrine, Stacey (Brent) Fuller, Bill (Ginger) Curvin, Kris Flanigan, Steve (Windy) Balinger, Ginny (Steve) Fahay, Melanie Hutcheson, Sam Hutcheson; brother, John McGill; brother-in-law, Ray Meyer; sister-in-law, Marie McGill; 11 great-grandchildren; six very special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bud Little officiating.

Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery.

Franklin Eugene James, 56, of Charleston, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his home.

He is survived by his sister, Billie May; niece, Rebecca Coppinger; nephews, Malachi and Caleb Rice.

Robert Mahoney Sr.

Robert Langley Mahoney Sr., 80, cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Mahoney was born Sept. 12, 1927 in Oak Park, Ill. His parents were native Chattanoogans and the family returned to make their home here in 1931. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, and following service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from the University of Chattanooga. He worked in industrial distribution, serving 39 years with Mills & Lupton Supply Co., as vice president and secretary; Georgia Alabama Supply Co.; and FTD Enterprises. Following retirement, he contributed more than 4,000 hours as a volunteer in the Life Line Program at Memorial Hospital. An avid golfer, he was a member of Rivermont and Creeks Bend golf clubs.

Mr. Mahoney was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church and was active in the Serra Club, Knights of Columbus, and many other church and community endeavors.

He was the son of the late William T. and Catherine Crimmins Mahoney.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Breda Mahoney; his brothers, the Rev. William B. Mahoney, O.P. and George B. (Mildred) Mahoney; and an infant daughter who died at birth.

Mr. Mahoney is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Delaney Mahoney; five children; 13 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud: Robert L. Mahoney Jr. (Mary Catherine Dean), Brigid, Patsy, Rosie and Dominic Mahoney of Nashville, Kaki Mahoney Roberts (Dale) and Jody Roberts of Asheville, N.C., Patrick W. Mahoney (Rebecca), Brian, Phillip, Clara and Kathleen Mahoney, of Macy, Ind., Edward B. Mahoney (Beth), Emily and Racy Mahoney, Jamie and Megan Greever, of Chattanooga; and Chris Mahoney (Dianna), Megan and Will Mahoney, also of Chattanooga; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father George Schmidt officiating.

Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 6, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.

Larry Matthews

Larry Clark Matthews died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008.

Born in Dallas, Ga., in 1938, Larry went on to graduate from South Cobb High School and Southern Tech with an electrical engineering degree. He had a progressive career in computer engineering and ultimately retired from Tennessee Valley Authority after 20 years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mercer and Myrtis Matthews; his first wife, Kathryn; and brother Michael.

Survived by his wife, Sondra Matthews; sister, Dr. Aprile Holland; his children and their spouses, Melissa and Tony Paz, McMinnville, Tenn., Michael and Sheri Matthews, Plano, Texas, and MAJ Holly and LTC Keith Brelia, Shalimar, Fla.; and grandchildren, Samantha, Allison, Michael, Katherine, Aprile, Eric, Jeffrey, Christianna, Andrew, Christopher, Sarah, Joshua and Natalie.

Larry had a passion for music and dancing of the 50s. Since retirement he backpacked through Europe and enjoyed travel to Alaska, British Columbia and most recently Greece. Larry's greatest passion was his family and his favorite place of all was the sidelines for his grandchildren's activities – soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and cheerleading. He was affectionately called "Papa" by his family and "Coach Papa" by family friends. As we celebrate his life and the miracle it was, Papa will always be remembered as a strong, determined man, full of life but mostly full of love and devotion for his family. We were blessed to have him in our lives and we will greatly miss him.

Larry Matthews was laid to rest in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

A Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today, March 6, in Hiram, Ga., at Clark Funeral Home.

L.D. Miller Jr.

Leonidas D. Miller Jr., 87, passed away at his home on Lookout Mountain Monday, March 3, 2008.

He was the son of Judge L.D. Miller Sr. and Lena Kate Wills Miller from Mountain City, Tenn., who was born on Oct. 21, 1920 in Chattanooga. The family moved to Lookout Mountain in December 1920. Other siblings are Rinehart Miller Lackey, of Cleveland, Tenn., and the late Sylvia Miller Johnson Graham, of Copperhill, Tenn. and Portia Miller Wrenn, of Chattanooga. Mrs. Lena Miller passed away on September 1923. Judge Miller remarried Mrs. Edith McAllister Adkins Miller in April 1924. This marriage brought a stepbrother, Joseph P. Adkins Jr.; and a new sister, Martha Bell Miller.

L.D. received his education in local schools and graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1938. While working and attending night school at Chattanooga College of Law, he graduated with a law degree and passed the Tennessee State Bar in 1945. At which time he joined the law firm of Spears, Reynolds, Williams and Moore. Later he opened his own law firm on the 10th floor of the Hamilton National Bank Building where he practiced for over 50 years.

On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Elizabeth Jeanne Collette and their children are Elizabeth "Becky" Kate Miller Bowers, wife of Dr. Richard James Bowers, Leonidas (Micky) D. Miller III who is married to Carolyn Cofer Miller.

Grandchildren are Dr. Elizabeth Maria Bowers, Chattanooga and Richard James Bowers Jr., Detroit, Mich., Joseph "Jay" Leonidas Miller, Chattanooga and Ferne Elizabeth Miller, Chattanooga.

L.D. was a long-standing member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, the Fairyland Club and the local and state Bar Association.

Survivors are the children, grandchildren and sisters, Rinehart Lackey, Portia Wrenn and Martha Bell Miller. Additionally, Robin Stone, caregiver, for the past year.

Services will be today, March 6 with visitation beginning at 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church with funeral services beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Born in New London, Conn., Dorothy was a very loving daughter, wife, mother and friend.

James Lee "Pappy Jim" Thomas, 72, of East Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

Mr. Thomas was born in Chattanooga to Sam and Roberta Thomas. He was the owner and operator of Pappy Jim's Produce on Highway 27 on Lafayette Road. He was a graduate of Central High School, served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith. He was loved by all his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Mildred Ragan Vincent, 96, of Red Bank, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in a local hospital.

She retired from Northside Dry Cleaners at age 83 after 30 years of service. Mrs. Vincent was perhaps the oldest member of Red Bank United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wayne Vincent Sr., and she was the last of seven children.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann V. Harden; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; son, J. Wayne Vincent Jr.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with the Rev. Rick Spell and the Rev. Harold Buck officiating.

RICHARD CITY -- Mary Kirk Goforth, 79, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn Steel Kirk. She was a member of Richard City Baptist Church, where she played the piano at church and in the community for years: retired from Revco; owned and operated Mary Jim's Restaurant in Stevenson for many years; and owned and operated Midway Car Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Goforth.

She is survived by daughters, Peggy and Jimmy Taylor, Betty Ann and Ronnie Lancaster, Barbara and Earl Blevins; son, Larry and Joyce Haggard; stepchildren, Margaret and Joe Pennington, Marilyn and Curtis Miner, Jimmy and Pearlie Goforth, Edith and Walt Muirhead; 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren; sister, Dot Graham; three nieces.

JASPER -- Mary Allie Scruggs Vinson, 92, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, in a local hospital with her family at her side.

She enjoyed being a member of Baptist Hill Church for many years. She worked in an elementary school cafeteria and later in South Pittsburg Hospital Clinic.

Her love of and dedicated work toward her beautiful flower gardens was a blessing to all who knew her, especially to those who came by for a visit and a good home-cooked meal.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dewey Vinson; her parents, William and Lillian Wallace Scruggs; six brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her only daughter, Virginia Samples, of Chattanooga, Bill (Mae) Vinson, of Whitwell, Tenn., Ken (Robin) Vinson, of Clearmont, Fla., and Ron (Kayren) Vinson, of Ranger, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

FORT OGLETHORPE -- Joanne F. Beldin, 78, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Ocala, Fla. Mrs. Beldin and her husband, were co-founders of Missionary Flights International in 1964.

Survivors are her husband, Rev. Don H. Beldin; daughters, Nancy Jo (Vance) Templeton, Chattanooga, Linda Sue (Bill) Gordon, Hendersonville, Tenn.; brother, Richard (Florence) Keller, Brainerd, Minn., Neva Hockerman, Janesville, Wis.; sister-in-law, Jeanette Fernstaedt, Cedarville, Ill.; grandchildren, Cristy (Michael) Salley, Misty (Shannon) Roszell, Cindy (Chris) Bronniman, Donnie (Holly) Gordon and Derek Gordon; great-grandchildren, Eli, Abby and Emmy Salley, Ava and Micah Roszell.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Don H. Beldin, Pastor Jeff Jackson and the Rev. Richard Snook officiating.

Deborah Craig

ROSSVILLE -- Deborah Kay Craig, 44, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008.

She had lived in the Jacksonville, Fla., area for more than 25 years, before moving to the North Georgia area in 1994. She was member of Memorial Baptist Church and was a caretaker to her family and friends. She also enjoyed studying different events and situations throughout history.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Shrader; grandmother, Martha Thompson; and aunt, Jewell Suggs.

Survivors include her mother, Billie Ann Shrader; husband, Winifred Craig; children, Daniel, Kyle, Jessica and Kelly Craig and Kimberly Smith; brother, Henry Shrader, all of Rossville; sister, Peggy Eddy, of York, S.C.; two nieces, Patricia and Whitney Shrader; and three nephews, Henry Shrader Jr., Dustin Shrader and Kenneth Irvin Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2008, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Brother Nathan Cravatt officiating.

Burial will follow in Calvary Gardens Cemetery.

Roy Keller

RISING FAWN -- Roy Keller, 65, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at his residence.

A 1960 graduate of Central High School he had been employed with the Electric Power Board and Dillard-Smith. He was a United States Marine veteran having served in Vietnam.

Survivors include his children, Jeffrey Scott Keller, Chickamauga, Tracey Marsala, Okinawa, Japan, Timothy Todd Keller, Hixson and Daniel Bradley Keller, East Brainerd; grandchildren, Ben, Nicholas, and Sarah Keller, Loren, Kaitlyn and Matthew Marsala.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Mason and Minister Jack James officiating.

Interment will be in National Cemetery.

FORT OGLETHORPE -- Betty Lou Williams Lowe, 73, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

Mrs. Lowe was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe. She was employed with AAA Travel Agency, Georgia state treasurer of Amateur Athletic Union, and past member of Scenic City Chapter Of Sweet Adalines, and an advisor for Chattanooga Junior Achievements.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Lillie Williams; sister, Kathryn Bailey; and brother, Bill Williams.

Survived by her husband of 49 years, Jim Lowe; daughter, Kim (Mike) Ellis, of Fort Oglethorpe; sisters, Wilma (Stanton) Williams, of Texas, June Epperson, Fort Oglethorpe; grandchildren, Jacob (Ashly) Ellis, and Emily Ellis, all of Fort Oglethorpe; great-grandchild, Easton Ellis; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral 11 a.m. Friday from First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe. Service conducted by Dr. John Wyatt and the Rev. Brion Williams.

Interment in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Paul Marble

WILDWOOD -- Paul A. Marble, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the family residence.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air force where he served as a medic. He was a member of the Pomona Masonic Lodge in California and the Scottish Rite in Long Beach, California. He was a retired electrician with IBEW.

Mr. Marble was the son of the late Hugh Marble and Agnes May Marble.

Survivors include his son, Patrick Marble and wife, Melissa Marble , of Wildwood; two grandsons, Christopher Leigh Marble and Ryan Patrick Marble; one great-grandson, Jordan Marble.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Chaplain Don Sapp will officiate.

Emma Nunley

RINGGOLD -- Emma Ruth Nunley, 86, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in a local hospital.

She was retired from Memorial Hospital after many years.

Mrs. Nunley was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ridge; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors are son, George (Carol) Tankersley, Chattanooga; daughters, Patsey (Frank) Frizzell, Soddy-Daisy, Wanda (Ron) Chambers, Harrison, Carolyn (Red) Roszell, Ringgold, Nancy Barnes, Chickamauga; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

James Pagleno Sr.

ROSSVILLE -- James A. "Jim" Pagleno Sr., 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at his residence.

A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Rossville areas and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the Harvesters Sunday School Class. He was retired from AT&T with 44 years of service and was currently employed with Choo-Choo Materials. Mr. Pagleno served on the executive board of CWA Union Representative, was a counselor for United Way and was an honorary member of the Tennessee General Assembly. He served as past Master & past secretary of East Lake Masonic Lodge 698 F&AM, Past High Priest Mt. Moriah 95, Past Illustrious John Bailey Nicklin Chapter 49 and Past Commander of the Chattanooga Commandry 38. In addition to having received KYCH, he also was a member of the Alhambra Temple, served as past secretary and past Captain of Hillbilly Clan 81, past president of the Southeastern Hillbilly Association and a member of the OES Mr. Pagleno was commander of York Rite, a member of the Scottish Rite, and was also honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Edna Pagleno; and birth mother, Billie Irene Hyde.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marlene "Marty" Pagleno; six children, William Ernest (Lois) Pagleno, of Chattanooga, James Michael Pagleno, Chattanooga, Richard Lyle Pagleno Sr., Rossville, Michael Scott (Debbie) Pagleno Sr., Fort Oglethorpe, Angela Susan "Suzi" Wheeler, Rossville, and James A. Pagleno Jr., of Rossville; sister, Mary Helen Hensley, Harrison; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating.

ROSSVILLE -- Dorothy Houston Peace, 80, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her residence.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and North Georgia. Mrs. Peace had been a member of Highland Park Baptist Church for 60 years and was a member of the Scott Sunday School Class. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School and in 1989, she was the oldest member of her graduating class at Chattanooga State. Mrs. Peace was retired from Dixie Portland and ADM Flour Mill after 39 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Peace; brother, R.E. Houston Jr., and sisters, Marjorie Pearson and Betty King; and granddaughter, Angela Scruggs.

Survivors are sons, David H. (Debbie) Peace, Harrison, James E. (Carmen) Peace, Hixson, Gary M. (Sherry) Peace, Chattanooga; daughters, Sandra K. (Dean) Poi, Chattanooga, Connie S. Allen, Fort Oglethorpe, Jeannie (Rocky) Thaxton, LaPorte, Texas, Judy L. (Allen) Hubbs, Rossville; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. David Bouler and Elder Andrew Huffman officiating.

She was a lifelong member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church, served as secretary of the Friendship Sunday School Class and was a member of the Craft Club. She was retired from Am South Bank and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Grace was preceded in death by a son, Steve Reed; and her father Floyd Thomason.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Reed; three sons, Rick Reed and wife, Cindy, of Rossville, Jerry Reed and wife, Cathy, of Lilburn, Ga., and Wally Reed, of San Bernadino, Calif.; five grandchildren, Michelle Pendergrass and husband, Jason, Jessica Reed, Leslie Gilbreath and husband Clint, Johnathan Reed and Josh Reed; three great-grandchildren, Logan Pendergrass, Cole Reed Pendergrass and Melanie Gilbreath; one brother, James Thomason; one sister, Betty Jo Thomason; several nieces and nephews.

RINGGOLD -- Timothy Lebron Smith, 16, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008.

He was born in Chattanooga, and had been a lifelong resident of Catoosa County. He attended Ringgold High School where he was a sophomore. He enjoyed time on his computer with myspace and runescape. He attended Gospel Way Baptist Church in the Graysville community.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Ernest E. and Grace Smith; grandparents, John Arthur and Barbara Olene Daugherty; uncles, Ernest Lebron Smith and Troy Leon Jones.

He is survived by his father, Timothy Earl Smith; mother and stepfather, Tammy and William Greg Dickey; sisters, Natasha Nicole Smith, Amanda LaShelle Malone; grandparents, Charles E. Smith and Betty Jo Brick, all of Ringgold, Ga.; several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, in the chapel with Minister Clifford Herd officiating.

Betty Wainwright

ROSSVILLE -- Betty George Wainwright, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008.

She was born in Camden, N.J. to the late Charles Raymond George and Grace Isabelle Burton George. She was a former resident of Philadelphia, Pa. and had resided for the past 10 years in the Ringgold, Ga./Rossville, Ga. area. She was very proud of recently being baptized into the Rossville Church of Christ as a member. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being an active member of Rossville Senior Citizens Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Andrew Wainwright Sr.; son, Leonard Anthony George; and great-granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Crowl.

She is survived by her children, Grace George, Harry George, both of Pennsylvania, Evelyn "Twinkie" New, of Rossville, Deborah Argabright, of Metter, Ga., Alfred Andrew Wainwright Jr., George Wainwright, both of New Jersey; siblings, Estelle Virginia, Katherine George, Georgie George, Laura George, Julia George, all of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

IDER -- Hercial Boydston, 97, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Dekalb Regional Hospital.

Mr. Boydston was a WW II veteran serving in the Navy, a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church and was retired from Combustion Engineering.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Arvel and Johnnie Boydston, Ider, Paul and Ramona Boydston, Cedar Bluff; sisters, Tola Ott, Opella Smith, Ider, Flona Thornhill, Pisgah, Girtha Lee Stoner, Birmingham, Zula Jones, Chattanooga and Ivonene Thornhill, Rocky Face; grandchildren, Maxzine Austin, DeWayne Boydston, Pam Boydston Brown, Annette Boydston Perez, Paula Steele, Karen Templeton and Stacey Scott; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jack Shumake

FACKLER -- Orvel Jack Shumake, 76, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his home.

Survivors include wife of 51 years, Mildred Elizabeth Gilley Shumake; five children; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

At his request, Jack was cremated.

Arrangements were handled by Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, Ala.

William Tucker III

ROEBUCK, S.C. -- William Alexander Tucker III, 66, husband of Sandra Herren Tucker, died unexpectedly Monday, March 3, 2008.

Born in Chattanooga, on Dec. 27, 1941, he was a son of the late William A. Tucker Jr. and Dorothy Fromke Tucker. Mr. Tucker graduated from Red Bank High School and attended the University of Chattanooga. He retired from Staubli Corporation as a sales engineer after 25 years of service. Mr. Tucker was a licensed pilot and taught CPR at the Red Cross. He was a member of Solid Rock Church where he also served as a deacon. He was a loving husband, a super dad and granddad.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Mr. Tucker is survived by a daughter, Allison T. Patrick, of Roebuck; two sons, Alex Tucker of Roebuck and Daniel Tucker and wife, Ann, of Spartanburg; a brother, Ronald C. Tucker, of Cartersville, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted today, March 6, 2008 at 5 p.m. in the J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Lewis presiding.

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Solid Rock Church, 1326 Union St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
