Lookouts, Tigers set for April 1

Round three has been set.

The Chattanooga Lookouts will face Chattanooga State on April 1 in an exhibition game at AT&T Field, marking the third consecutive year the Lookouts and Tigers have met. The Lookouts are the Class AA affiliates of the Cincinnati Reds, while the Tigers have been a recent power in the NJCAA, attaining a No. 1 ranking before last year’s matchup.

First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.

“The Reds feel that this is better than working out under the lights, and they understand the importance of helping out Chattanooga State’s program a little bit,” Lookouts owner Frank Burke said Thursday. “They are very supportive of it. It’s that elusive win-win.”

Normal ticket prices apply for the exhibition — $4 for general admission, $6 for upper-level box seats and $8 for lower-level box seats — and the game is included in the season-ticket package. All proceeds will go to Chattanooga State’s program.

The Lookouts won the inaugural meeting 8-0, scoring seven runs with two outs, and won 20-0 last year. It was 0-0 through three innings a year ago following scoreless innings thrown by Tigers pitchers Thomas Gray, Drew Bowlin and Coty Green.

“I think it has been a great experience for those kids, regardless of the score,” Burke said.
