McMinn Central loses in state semifinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Jessica McQueen’s 3-point shot with 1:15 remaining put Marshall County ahead by one point, and the Tigerettes held off McMinn Central 45-43 in the semifinals of the Class AA girls’ state basketball tournament this evening.

The top-ranked Chargerettes (32-3) had won 21 consecutive games, and the loss was their first to a AA opponent. Kylie Lambert led McMinn Central with 14 points before fouling out with two seconds remaining. Seventh-ranked Marshall County (31-4) was led by 6-foot-1 post Lauren March’s 23 points and nine rebounds.
