The city’s fourth homicide victim of 2008 died from multiple gunshot and stab wounds to the head and neck, according to an autopsy Monday by the Hamilton County medical examiner’s office.
Chattanooga police officers found Cedrick L. Hubbard, 32, of 2609 14th Ave. dead at his East Lake home Friday night after receiving a call to check on his well-being, records show.
Mr. Hubbard’s mother and a neighbor tried to check on Mr. Hubbard, but they couldn’t unlock the door or enter the home through a window, police were told. They then called 911, according to another neighbor, David Hall.
Mr. Hall, 50, said he saw Mr. Hubbard’s body at the entrance to his home.
“He was pretty much all tore up,” he said. “There was a lot of blood.”
Mr. Hall said he was surprised to learn about the homicide because the neighborhood generally was quiet. His neighbor was “a happy-go-lucky guy,” he said.
The homicide remained under investigation Monday afternoon as police continued to question people, Chattanooga police spokeswoman Lt. Kim Noorbergen said.
