CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The field of applicants for Bradley County director of schools was reduced today to five, including three local candidates and two from outside the county.
Local applicants include Walker Valley High School principal Danny Coggin, Bradley Central High School principal Johnny McDaniel and Terri Murray, director of federal programs for the county school system.
Applicants from outside the county are Amie Lambert, a Jefferson County middle school principal, and George Smalley, a Whitfield County, Ga. official.
Members of the Bradley County school board’s screening committee met Wednesday to narrow the list from eight to five. The members are Troy Weathers, Terry McGuire and Christy Critchfield.
The full school board will get the list at the board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Other board members can nominate candidates with a majority vote from the board.
Today, Mr. Weathers and Mr. McGuire conducted brief telephone interviews with the eight candidates from the original list of 13.
Public interviews with finalists will take place in early April.
