Four people were seriously injured Tuesday night in a head-on collision on Browntown Road and McCahill Road in Red Bank, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
THP spokesperson Laura McPherson said a 1992 Saturn driven by Robert M. Lopolo, 19, was being pursued by Red Bank Police when the accident occurred around 11:35 p.m.
Spokesperson McPherson said Red Bank Police was pursuing the Saturn northbound on Highway 27.
“It appeared the vehicle was going to stop and was slowing down at the Morrison Springs Road exit when a passenger jumped from the car and the driver sped up and turned onto Morrison Springs Road and then onto McCahill Road,” the spokesperson said.
She said the car topped a hill and struck a 2006 Ford Escape head-on. The driver of the Escape was Erin M. Betbeze, 25.
Red Bank officials said two of the victims had to be extricated from their vehicles.
Mr. Lopolo and his passengers — Amanda D. Talley, 19, and Megan A. Lacourse, 18 — and Ms. Betbeze were transported to Erlanger by Hamilton County EMS.
Erlanger officials said this morning that Miss Lacourse was listed in critical condition. There was no information available on the other victims.
The passenger that jumped from the Saturn was identified as 19-year-old Jeremy L. Fuqua, according to the THP.
