Forest Chapman
Forest Lee Chapman, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Memorial North Park Hospital.
Forest was born Sept. 22, 1918 in Wayland, Ky. From there he moved to Orlando, Fla.,with his family. As a young man he met and married Ruth Dora Brown. A couple of years after their son was born, they moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where their four daughters were born. In his later years Forest moved to Collegedale to be close to his daughters and his grandchildren. Forest served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W II, serving in France and Germany.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Everett Chapman; his birth mother, Maggie Howard Chapman; his stepmother, Ollie Pigg Chapman; his sisters, Ruth Haywood and Lucy Chewning; brother, Joe Chapman.
Survivors include his five children, Lee Chapman, Mickey Taylor, Evelyn Nicholaides, Marie Kriner and Melody Ferguson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Willie Stockwell, John Chapman, Chuck Chapman, Donald Chapman, Marie Whisenhant and Danny Chapman; and a host of nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in National Cemetery with Pastor Mitchell Nicholaides officiating.

William Farmer
William E. 'Bill' Farmer passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at a local hospital. He was 65 years old.
A Chattanooga native, Mr. Farmer was a graduate of Chattanooga High School, class of 1960. Additionally, Mr. Farmer attended and graduated from the University of Chattanooga (as it was called then) and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. During his career, Mr. Farmer was in the real estate and mortgage-loan industries. Before retiring in 1998, he was vice president of First Tennessee Bank's Mortgage Loan Department. After retiring, Mr. Farmer and his wife of almost 30 years, Rita, enjoyed extensive traveling and the company of their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Judy, Ted, Bess and Matt.
Survivors include his wife, Rita, and children, Wendy Black, Chattanooga, William Farmer Jr., Chattanooga, Andy Segelke, Nashville, Carey Segelke, Collegedale; and grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Caroline and Chance.
Mr. Farmer was the son of the late Elmer and Lorraine Farmer.
Per Mr. Farmer's wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
He will be missed dearly by his family and those who loved him.
Frances Ford
Frances Ann Hall Ford, 76, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at her home.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, William and Frances Hall; and her husband, Charles Mastin Ford Jr. Also a son, Charles Benjamin Ford.
Frances was a member of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Church, a graduate of Daniel Baker College of Texas and at one time was a teacher of handicap/special children.
Frances is survived by three daughters, Marina (Bill) Smith, of Nashville, Katie (Noel) Anderson, of Arlington, Texas, and Arettie Mary Ford, of Chattanooga. Also one son, John James Bland Ford, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn. Frances also has four grandchildren, Nicholas and Christiana Anderson, Mary Lisette Morris and Charles David Cannon.
There will be a service at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Church, 357 Lookout High St., at 2:30 p.m. today, March 13, 2008, with Father Jonas Worsham officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Marilyn Holcomb
Marilyn Sue Castleman Holcomb, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at her home with her family by her side.
She graduated from City High School in 1956. She worked for Memorial Center for Health at the East Brainerd YMCA where she was an arthritis instructor in water aerobics. She was a former member at Central Baptist Church Woodmore and a very active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and the Harvest Sunday School Class.
Marilyn was the daughter of the late Fred and Helen Phillips Castleman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Holcomb.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Lee Holcomb Ellis and her husband, Brad Ellis, and granddaughter, Hannah Noel Ellis, of Canton, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ridgedale Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

Lisa Marie Jones, 49, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008.
She was born in Chattanooga to Lewis and Doris Hollingsworth and was a 1976 graduate of East Ridge High School. She received her BA in accounting from UTC and was the proprietor of Lisa H. Jones, CPA. She previously was a partner with her father at Hollingsworth and Jones, CPA, and was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Griffin; sons, Dustin Jones and his fiancée, Rachael Henley, and Brandon Jones; mother, Doris M. Hollingsworth; brother, Michael (Karen) Hollingsworth; sister, Susan (Harold) Hollingsworth Maddux; nieces and nephews, Daniel and Amanda Hollingsworth and Chris, Haley, Rachael and Tyler Maddux.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis W. Hollingsworth.

Leone Shaw Lerner, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in a local hospital.
She was predeceased In death by her parents, Flora and Henry Shaw; her brother, Clarence Shaw; and her husband, Benjamin Lerner.
Leone was a member of the Mizpah Congregation, a housewife, and she volunteered for 23 years in the Memorial Hospital Gift Shop.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Lerner; and daughter-in-law, Teresa, of Nashville.

MaryNell Bowman Massengale, 70, of Lookout Valley, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at her residence.
She had lived most of her life in Lookout Valley where she was a member of Tiftonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Massengale was retired from Standard Coosa Thatcher, and was an avid fan of Tennessee Walking Horses and the Atlanta Braves.
Her parents, Charles and Irene Bowman and two brothers, Dewey and Marlin Bowman preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, L.D. Massengale; two sons and daughter-in-law, Denny and Cathy Massengale, of Ooltewah and Dan Massengale, of Brainerd; brother, Charles W. Bowman, of Lookout Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

CLEVELAND -- Howard T. Freeman, 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Freeman was formerly employed with Ernest Holmes Co. for over 30 years and also Mohawk Industries. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of Worley Masonic Lodge and was an avid Tennessee Vols Fan. He was a member of Cedar Valley Cathedral of Praise in Dalton, Ga.
Survivors are his wife, Ellen Freeman; daughter, Janet (Frank) Canada, Cleveland; two sons, Keith (Sherrie) Freeman, Atlanta and Mark (Angie) Freeman, Dalton; brother, Lewis (Bob) Freeman, Apison; grandchildren, Elaine, Tammye, Michelle, Matthew, Christina, Stacy and Sabrina; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

McDONALD -- Ruby Belle Jones passed away in her sleep on Monday evening, March 10, 2008. She was 86.
"Belle" was born in Red Clay and lived in McDonald for nearly 70 years. Retired from Charleston Hosiery Mill, she was a member of Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and will be fondly remembered as a wonderful grandmother and treasured friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Eslinger and Frank Maroon, of Cleveland, Tenn; devoted husband, Robert Marvin "Red" Jones; sister Mildred Delashmitt and brother Louis Maroon, both of Cleveland.
She is survived by her son, Marvin "Ray" Jones with whom she resided; brother, Ernest Maroon of Cleveland; granddaughters, Tiffany Jones (Jim) Gibby, of Chattanooga, Lanie Ray Novene, of McDonald, and Megan Lee (Kenneth) Rymer, also of McDonald; four great-grandchildren, Sophia Belle and Jack Gibby, and Laisia and Lee Novene; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held today, March 13, at noon at Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, with Pastor Russ Maroon officiating.

Joseph Ledford
CLEVELAND -- Joseph C. Ledford, 84, passed away Tuesday morning, March 11, 2008, in a local hospital.
He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He was owner and operator of Cox Auto Parts for 20 years working together with his wife. He had worked in the auto parts business for most of his life. Joe was a veteran of WWII having served his country in the U.S. Army in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. He was a past member of Cleveland Elks Lodge 1944 and past member of the Cleveland Optimist Club. He loved to ride his motorcycle and had made several cross country trips, with close friends, covering much of the United States and parts of Canada. He loved music and loved to host singings at his home. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He loved his family, his church and he loved people. He will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor. He knew how to make every day count and he enjoyed life. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Glover and Hazel Davis Ledford; three brothers, Frank, Donald and Beverly Ledford.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Katherine Ledford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and John Osterlund, Reno, Nev., and Debbie and Rick Zabor, Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly and Keith McCowen, Erynn and Randy Swann and Emily Zabor; four great-grandchildren, Lauren and Courtney McCowen and Chandler and Skylar Swan; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jewel Randolph and Jeanette and Herbert Benton, Cleveland; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Ledford, Cleveland; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Haskins and the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. The eulogy will be given by one of Joe's closest friends, John Miles.
Interment will follow in Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marianne Moisan
CLEVELAND -- Marianne Helen Girardot Moisan, 79, died Monday, March 10, 2008, in an area health care facility.
Mrs. Moisan was born in Erie, Pa., on June 11, 1928 to Francis and Katherine Rogan Girardot. She had resided in Detroit, Mich.; Toronto, Ontario; Marathon, Ontario. In September of 1953 she married Joseph Gerard Rolland Moisan, and moved to Cleveland, Tenn., in 1954. She received her Associate's Degree in Data Processing and Respiratory Therapy from Cleveland State Community College, and worked as a respiratory therapist at several area healthcare facilities.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include three son, Peter Moisan, Raleigh, N.C., Richard Moisan, Blaine, Tenn., and Paul Moisan, Atlanta; daughter, Patti Moisan Horne, Englewood, Tenn.; grandsons, Lucas Moisan and David Moisan; granddaughters, Caitlin Horne and Sara Horne.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008, at 4 p.m. at St. Therese of Liseux. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Church.

DAYTON -- Bernadine M. "Bunny" Weeden Perkins passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, in Mukwonago, Wis.
She was born on Feb. 10, 1918 in Loyd, Wis., She was a resident of Athens, Tenn., and Dayton, Tenn., from 1977 until 1999 when moving to Mukwonago, Wis. She was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evensville, Tenn.
Bunny was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn; infant sons, Richard and Bruce; son, Dennis Perkins; and two great-grandchildren, Darren Jahnke and Heather Hirt.
Survivors include daughters, Donna (Harry) Hirt, Soddy-Daisy, LuAnne (Robert) Hightower, Winter Haven, Fla., Kathie (Dennis) Greenwood, Palatine, Ill., Karen Olds (John Pasko), Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Marlene Perkins, Mukwonago, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evensville, Tenn.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
The remains will be committed at a graveside service at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tigerton, Wis., on Memorial Day weekend.

PALMER -- Anna Joyce Shrum, 76, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at her home.
She was born on March 14, 1931 to James and Oma Dell Lankford Brewer who preceded her in death along with her brother, Doug Brewer; husband, James Shrum Jr.; and great-grandchild, Kristopher William Hammonds.
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Ernie) and Mike (Joy) Shrum; sister, Rosa Nell (Dan) Coffelt; grandchildren, Heather Brown, Josh Shrum, Monica Turner and Misty Hammonds; great-grandchildren, Christoper, Shea, Katelyn Re'nece, Evan, Joshua, Lucas and Grayson.

Rodney Boling
RINGGOLD -- Rodney L. Boling, 41, formerly of Ringgold, passed away in Mount Juliet, Tenn.
Rodney was a native of Chattanooga had lived most of his life in Ringgold and LaFayette. He was co-owner of Mr. Transmission in Dalton, Ga., and Hixson, and had worked for Newton Mitsubishi for several years. He loved owning his own trucking company, R&B Trucking in LaFayette, and also in Mt. Juliet, where he moved to in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Diane Boling; his father, William "Sonny" Boling; and brother, George L. Boling.
Survivors include his son, Steven L. Boling, of Ringgold; mother and stepfather, Linda and Clarence Seals, of LaFayette; step-brother, Daniel McKenna, Spring Hill, Fla.; mother of his two children, Linda Boling Acuff, of Ringgold; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and lifetime friend, Jim O'Donnell of Ringgold, also survive.

Dr. Cheatham, son of Edgar Jones and Marjorie Spencer Cheatham and brother of Edgar J. Jr. who all preceded him in death, was born in Memphis, on Aug. 15, 1924. He was 83.
Survivors are beloved wife, Mari Lynn; children, Marjorie (Steve) Langston, Chattanooga, Susan (Pete) Munsell, Nashville, JoAnna (Dennis) Thompson, Knoxville, James S. Jr., Seattle, Wash., Jennifer, Chattanooga, Jonathan (Lucrecia), Atlanta; and grandchildren, James S. III, Bonnie, Sarah, Bryce, Lucrecia, Corey, Anjie; and beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Raised in Lakewood, Ohio, he attended University of Connecticut and Yale University. Dr. Cheatham received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1949. Before joining the Air Force as a commissioned officer, Dr. Cheatham served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 and retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel in 1969. Prior to moving to the Atlanta area in 1980, he practiced in California, Alaska, Indiana, Iowa and Tennessee. Dr. Cheatham has held university appointments at the California Medical School, San Francisco, the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis, and was an assistant professor of Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta.
Throughout his distinguished career he served as a consultant for numerous federal and state agencies, including the TVA, Social Security Administration and the VA. Dr. Cheatham presented papers on psychiatric care at national and international academic and professional meetings. While in private practice in Atlanta, Dr. Cheatham was associated with numerous hospitals including Brawner, West Paces Ferry and Talbott Marsh.
He was a Civil War buff, a member of one of the founding families of the state of Tennessee and proud of his Southern heritage and family history. As well as being an avid reader, a lover of music and the fine arts, he had a fun loving sense of adventure.
An accomplished photographer always seeking the next photo op, he traveled the world with Mari Lynn, family and friends seeking good food, beautiful scenery and grand times. He loved nothing more than a gourmet meal, a fine glass of wine and good company to share them with. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. The family especially appreciates those who cared for him during his courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease, including Dr. Margaret White, the Emory Alzheimer's Program, the Weinstein Day Program and Waterford Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Weinstein Day Program, Emory University Alzheimer's Research Program or Harvard University Scholarship Fund.
Following a private family committal service at Georgia National Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m, Saturday, March 15, at Dunwoody United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Lamelia Crittenden
ROSSVILLE -- Lamelia Cordelia Crittenden, 98, widow of the late Hershel T. Crittenden passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
She was the seventh child of 12 children, and is the last surviving child of the late George Thomas and Lisa Day Richardson. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, was a former employee of Richmond Hosiery Mills in Rossville for over 25 years. She loved reading, gardening and serving her family and others before she came ill several years ago.
The family is very thankful to the nurses and staff at NHC of Rossville for their genuine care and love that was given to Mrs. Crittenden during her stay.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty and the late William "Bill" Ferguson, of Rossville and Fay and M.G. "Pete" Kennedy of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren, Susan (Ken) Fletcher, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Robert (Pam) Ferguson, of Rossville, Carin (Jim) Weaver, of Naples, Cathy Kennedy, of Naples, and Mark Kennedy, of Naples; six great-grandchildren, Beth (John) Martin, Anne (Stan) Fetzer, Jason Patrignani, of the Citadel in South Carolina, Sara Patrignani, Emily Ferguson and Allison Ferguson; three great-great-grandchildren, Henry Fetzer, Cordelia Fetzer and Thomas Martin; half sister, Mildred Parham, of Trion, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

W.H. Hester
RINGGOLD -- W.H. "Pete" Hester, 86, passed away Wednesday March 12, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Cairo, Ga., he has lived in the North Georgia area most of his life. Pete was a self-employed farmer and shaving hauler for many years, and a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during WWII. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was a former deacon.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Brown Hester; and parents, Hansel and Pearl Black Hester.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Black Hester, of Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Debbie Hester, of Ringgold; stepson and daughter-in-law, Roger and Janice Cummings, of Rossville; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Bill Hilling, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Kaye and Donald Gassett, of Ringgold; and four stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Waymond Cooper and Pastor Kevin Shadwick officiating.
Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

TRENTON -- Delia Fay Raines, 75, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
She was a lifelong resident of Trenton, and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Raines was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Raines: parents, Ernest and Loretta Stone; son Ricky Lee Raines; sisters, Azlee Hartline and Dayton Stephens: brother, E.B. Stone.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Gardner Blevins, Brenda and Marvin Croft, Sharon and Mike Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Rae Raines, all of Trenton; eight grandchildren, Nikki, Tara, Jamey, Travis, Misty, Kyle, Caleb and Aaron; four great-grandchildren, Lily, Gracie, Emma and Cohen; special nieces and nephews.

Johnny Ritchie
RINGGOLD -- Johnny C.R. Ritchie, 64, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 10, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Ritchie was born in Chattanooga, to John and Zora Ritchie. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, a U.S. Marine veteran, and retired from TVA after 32 years of employment. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Mary Ritchie; children, Johnna Eldridge, of East Ridge, Carla Bynum, of Ringgold, Ga., and Johnny "Jay" Ritchie Jr., of Birchwood; five grandchildren, Justin Ritchie, Rob Eldridge, Ericka Bynum, Hannah Eldridge and Kylie Ritchie; sisters, Evidene Tatum, of Chattanooga and Janice Watson, of Canton, Ga.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
