Council continues with budget hearings

City Councilwoman Linda Bennett said this afternoon that council members have gotten from departmental budget hearings a lot of useful information that they can apply to decision-making.

“It has been a good dialogue,” said Ms. Bennett, who chairs the Budget, Finance and Personnel Committee.

The council had its third day of departmental budget hearings today, with general services, neighborhood services and human services all presenting their requests for the upcoming 2008-09 fiscal year. There was not time for the finance department and that presentation will be rescheduled, Ms. Bennett said.

Meanwhile, nonprofit agencies will present to the council next Monday beginning at 9 a.m.
