Airport boardings up 16 percent

Boardings were up 16 percent in February from a year ago at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, officials said Monday.

ASA led all airlines for boarding, with 5,910 passengers, or nearly 24 percent of volume, according to the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority. Total cargo was down 1.9 percent in February from a year ago.

The authority approved an additional $106,490 for St. Louis-based Faith Group to design a control room, security video system and other improvements. The Faith Group previously had received approximately $113,000 for the study. The work is expected to cost about $3.5 million, and take 12 to 18 months from now, said President and CEO Michael Landguth
