Hamilton County is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown, Tenn.
A cold front is pushing storms through the area and has the potential to spin off tornadoes, said Howard Waldron, a weather service meteorologist. The worst of the storm should have passed between 5 p.m. and around 8 p.m., he said. The same storm system battered Marion County earlier in the day, he said.
The bad weather will come in advance of a sunny day Thursday with temperatures in the high 50s and a slight 5 mph wind from the northeast, Mr. Waldron said.
