Authorities identify body found in lake

A body found last week in Chickamauga Lake has been identified as that of Jonathan Smith, 22, according to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Mr. Smith’s body was identified using dental records. He was found by a TVA worker who saw a body floating next to the dam March 13. Officials believe it may be that of a man who committed suicide last month by jumping off the Thrasher Bridge.

Records show Mr. Smith lived in Harrison. Officials are still working to determine his cause of death.
