Former Chattanooga woman’s body found in Knoxville

The body of a woman originally from the Chattanooga area was found early this morning on a street in north Knoxville.

Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said foul play is suspected in the death of Carrie Daugherty, 24, who had a Knoxville address.

Ms. Daugherty’s body was found near a vehicle parked in front of a house on East Columbia Avenue, Mr. DeBusk said. Citing the ongoing investigation, he declined to say how police were notified about the body.

Autopsy results are expected later today, Mr. DeBusk said.
