Hattie Louise Ferguson, 89, formerly of Signal Mountain, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Jackson, Ga.
Hattie was born and lived on Signal Mountain for many years, moved to Atlanta, in 1960 and retired from Burger King as part of the management staff. She was a charter member of Mountain View Baptist Church and at time of death a member of South Side Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Ga.
She was preceded in death by William J. and Minnie Irene Williams McCrary, parents; Charles Cox, husband; Hugh Allen Myers, husband; James Samuel Ferguson, husband; Kenneth Ray Harmon II, grandson; Tammy Carroll, granddaughter; sisters, Gladys McFarland, Betty Bollinger, Minnie Bell Nixon; and brothers, Bill McCrary and "Bud" McCrary.
Survivors include her daughters, Virda Hughsanne (Albert) Pickett, of Crossville, Margaret Louise Campbell, of Jonesboro, Ga., and Wanda Lorette Jacobs Neal, of Stockbridge, Ga.; stepdaughter, Ruby (Bob) Lowry, of Signal Mountain; grandchildren, Allisa Rhea (AK) Heard, of Pikeville, Robert Allen (Tina) Mason, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Penny (Jamie) Dewberry, of Greer, S.C., Mark Jacobs, of Stockbridge, Ga. and Lori (Margarito) Receniz, of Atlanta; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her sisters are Mary Ruth Daniels, of Rossville, Ruby Daniel, of Rossville, Alice Felix, of Chaparral, N.M., Dorothy Crawley, of Chaparral; brothers are John McCrary, of Signal Mountain, Clifford McCrary, of Durham, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Walter Cox Hairston, 68, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at his home in Columbus, Ohio.
He was a longtime employee of the Chattanooga Department of Public works.
He leaves behind his wife, Patricia (Marable) Hairston; two sons, Walter (PaShunnda) Hairston Jr, Ivan Hairston; and stepson Harrison Mullin; three sisters, Betty Cox, Debra (Cox) Woodruff and Linda Cox; four brothers, Willie (Thelma) Cox, Myron, Eddie Earl and David Cox; five grandchildren, Ashley, Asharia, Krishon, Tiwan and Tadaisha; two aunts and one uncle, Mamie Cooper, of Chattanooga, Annie Maddox, of Columbus, Ohio, and Will Hill, of LaGrange, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marjorie Scott Hall, 74, of Harrison went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 17, 2008, from her home.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Hall; father and mother, Clarence and Pearl Edwards; one brother, Jimmy Edwards.
She is survived by her son, James W. (Sherry) Hall, of Harrison; one sister, Mildred (Johnny) Simpson, of Ooltewah; three grandchildren, Carlos Hall, Felicia Norman and Summer Hall; several nieces and nephews.

Helen Pollard, 84, of Hixson, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in a local healthcare facility.
Helen was a member of the Methodist Church. Helen was a Department Manager with Miller Brothers from 1969 to 1973 and then was with the Jewelry Department of Sears from 1974 to 2004.
She was the daughter of the late James C. and Josephine Richardson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leslie "Joe" Pollard Jr. and two brothers, Bobby and Ray Richardson.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Gary (Dianne) Pollard Sr., of Hixson; sisters, Eunice (Judson) Condra, of Chattanooga and Betty (Clifford) Layne, of Jasper; one grandson, Ronald Gary "Chip" Pollard Jr.

Dale Rasor
Dale B. Rasor passed away in his sleep at his residence Tuesday March 18, 2008.
Born on May 5, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Emerson and Alma Petry Rasor. He grew up in Piqua, Ohio and graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1952. He married Mary Alice Willcox on Jan. 24, 1953, who was the daughter of Leroy and Lova Davis Willcox formally of Piqua, Ohio. He pursued his life's work in Aviation at Dayton, Ohio until moving to Knoxville where he ran the Avionics Dept. at Stevens Aviation. He moved to Chattanooga and was cofounder and partner in Star Avionics at Lovell Field until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rasor, Chattanooga; three daughters, Deborah A. Torode and her husband, Michael, Pasadena, Calif., Cynthia L. Furst and husband, Dennis Rowan, Windsor, Calif. and Barbara J. Rasor, Aiken, S.C.; two sons, Steven D. Rasor, Chattanooga and David E. Rasor, El Paso, Texas; one granddaughter, Maddie Gordon, daughter of Barbara, Santa Barbara, Calif.; two grandsons, Michael Torode and Mathew Torode, both of Pasadena, Calif.
The family has requested cremation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio.

Jo Anne Skillern Stewart, 54, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in a local health care facility.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, she was a member of the J.C's, had worked as a nursing manager at several local hospital's, and worked as a dental assistant with Dr. Alan Stein, DDS. Ms. Stewart was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mabel Skillern; brother, Jackie Shipley; and sister, Jimmie Carol Kyle.
Survivors include her son, Harold Vaughn, of Ringgold; sister, Joyce Mere, San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law, Inga Shipley, of Chattanooga; nieces and nephews also survive.

William Totherow Sr.
William C. "Bill" Totherow Sr., 81, of Sale Creek, formerly of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1926, in DeKalb County, Ala. Bill accepted Christ in 1945 in the South Pacific while serving in the Navy during World War II. He proudly celebrated his 63rd spiritual birthday this past Monday. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church where he was the head usher and served on several committees. After the war he was a graduate of Edmondson Business College, former employee with DuPont Corp. and owned and operated several businesses including A-1 Portable Buildings for the past 26 years.
He was a great family man who loved his wife and family more than anything and enjoyed taking everyone out to eat.
Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Totherow; son, Aaron Totherow; parents, Martin and Hattie Totherow; siblings, Hugh, Herb, Chester, Jessie, Ola, Lloyd, Paul David.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Totherow; children, June (Von) Franklin, Donna (Bob) Banks, Bill Hindmon, William Calvin (Felicia) Totherow Jr., Joe (Lisa) Totherow and Jon (April) Totherow; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James and Charles Totherow; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Graybeal; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Covenant Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Marcus Clagg, Rev. Paul Stuart and Rev. Joseph Totherow officiating.

CLEVELAND -- Louise Eads, 69, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at her home.
She was a charter member of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1956. She was a retired registered nurse.
Mrs. Eads was the daughter of the late Lester Pulliam and Georgia Kelly Pulliam and was also preceded in death by her infant sister, Anna Marie Pulliam; and her brother, Ronald Lester Pulliam.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Raymond Eads, of Cleveland; son, Michael Eads, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; brother and spouse, Ralph O. and Wanda Pulliam, of Ten Mile; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mildred and J.T. Williams, John F. and Faye Eads, all of Cleveland, C. CLEVELAND -- Jeanette Anderson Goldston, 89, passed Monday, March 17, 2008, in a local Cleveland hospital.
Born in Dalton, Ga., Jeanette spent most of her life raised and educated in Bradley County. She attended College Hill School and centered all her love and energy on God, her husband of 70 years and family.
She attended Southside Church of God of Prophecy in Etowah, Tenn., until her health began to fail. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, and loved to play the French harp and guitar. She loved her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln Claude Goldston; parents, Gideon and Lessie Anderson; sisters, Lula Mae Westfield, Melissa, Frances, Mary Ruth Anderson, and Lesele Shopshire; step-brother, Lucien 'Andy' Anderson; and sons, Daniel and David Goldston.
Loving memories of her will be cherished by her family, seven daughters, Mae Frances (Bishop Joe) Bradford, Elizabeth Smith, Annette Goldston and Tim Lowe, Louise Williams, Sandra Goldston, Lessie Bell and Antonio Burnette, all of Cleveland, and Diane (Roosevelt) Ellis, of Palcious, Texas. Five sons, Benny Goldston, Claude (Jewel) Goldston, of Georgetown, Tn., Willis (Janet) Goldston, of Meigs, County, Marshall and Angelo Goldston, both of Cleveland; 39 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, David, Gideon and Denver Anderson, all of Cleveland, and Emanuel Anderson, of Toledo, Ohio. Frank Porter
DAYTON -- Ruben Franklin "Frank" Porter, 78, of Bradenton, Fla., and Dayton, Tenn, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Sarasota Memorial Medical Center in Sarasota, Fla.
Frank was born in Rhea County, Tenn., on July 16, 1929, the son of the late Rev. John A. and Dicey Walker Porter and was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Arnold Porter.
Frank was a 1947 graduate of Spring City High School and was a long time resident of Battle Creek, Mich., where he retired after 34 years with the Post Cereal as shift operations foreman. He was also an accomplished woodworker. Frank had lived in Dayton, since 1989 and had wintered in Bradenton, since 1984. While in Bradenton, Frank attended Bayshore Baptist Church and while in Dayton he attended Wolf Creek Baptist Church where his father was the former pastor.
Frank is survived by his wife, Marilyn Renner Porter; two sons, James Porter, of Battle Creek, Mich., and John Porter, of Huntsville, Ala.; two granddaughters, two great-grandsons; two step-sons, Bradley Stiles and Dale Stiles both of Bradenton, three stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-granddaughter; one brother, Arnold Porter, of Nashville; and two sisters, Carrie Roy and Eva Porter, both of Sweetwater, Tenn. He is also survived by two special nephews, Tom McGovern and Don McGovern, both of Bradenton.
Funeral services for Frank will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul D. Forgey officiating.
Burial will be in Rhea Memory Gardens, Dayton, followed with a white dove release.

SOUTH PITTSBURG -- Jamie Dawson Turner, 28, died Monday, March 17, 2008, in a Chattanooga hospital following a brief, but very courageous battle with cancer.
The daughter of the late Frieda Moore Dawson, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a graduate of North Jackson High School. She was also preceded in death by her grandfather, Joe D. Moore.
She is survived by her husband, Marlin Turner, of South Pittsburg; children, Caitlin and Quentin Dawson, Paige, Trey and Tresda Turner; brothers, Chris Dawson, Brandon Summers and Cody Dawson; father, James (Linda) Dawson; grandmothers, Addie Lee Moore and Gwen Dawson; grandfather, William Dawson; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home today, March 20, 2008, at 2 p.m. CDT with her uncle, the Rev. Joe Moore officiating.
Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.

Charles Walraven
JASPER -- Charles K. Walraven, 65, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
A graduate of Sequatchie County High School he had worked as a truck driver. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He also sang with the Gospel Believers and Gateway Gospel for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Joyce Carr Walraven and Lydia Diane Walraven; parents, Maxwell and Frona Hickey Walraven; and siblings, William Walraven and Audrey Chancey.

He was born in Hollywood, Ala., to the late Ollie Aubrey Gamble and Nannie Lou Loyd McGee. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and later retired as a horse trainer.

William Matthews
LaFAYETTE -- William "Bill" Matthews, 93, died Wednesday March 19, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Matthews; grandson, Jason Holder; brothers, Mayers, Murl, Mayborne and James Matthews.
The family extends special love and thanks to those that helped so much, Doris Hightower, Sonny Barfield and Countryside Hospice.
Also special visitors were appreciated, Charles Wardlaw, Benton Fletcher, Cecil Bryant, Guy Bruce Jr., Kim Keith, Joan Butler, Rose and Henrietta Loughridge.
Mr. Matthews worked 30 years with the State Highway Department of Georgia.
He was born and raised at his Pigeon Mountain Home since 1914. He loved to tell of his mental record of the community called Estelle. He watched the coal mining Community develop and disappear. He told of the end of open range laws and saw the last hanging on the LaFayette Square. He served in WWII with the 85th Division with the long guns. He always considered himself just a farmer but he contributed to scholarships and other endeavors to help people in need.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue Holder and son-in-law, Johnny Holder; grandchildren, Travis and Ruby Byers, Powder Springs, Tisha and Mike Lowe, Cartersville, Johnny Holder Jr. Sandy and Gerry Oliver, Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Will Scott, Sidney and Saxton Swantic, Sophia Lowe; special nieces and nephews are Joyce and J.C. Abercrombie, Ryan Matthews, Jenny Morgan, Linda Wiggins and Judson Matthews.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Wallis Memorial Chapel. Service conducted by Dr. Warren Moorhead, Dr. Todd Gaddis, the Rev. C.F. Strickland.

She was preceded in death by husband, Daniel Frank Stewart; two sons, Clark Stewart and Donald Stewart; one granddaughter, Tersesa Smith Chapman.
Survivors include daughter, Tena Stewart Smith, of Chickamauga, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Randy Stewart, Danny Stewart, Alan Stewart, Deborah Davis, Michael Smith, David Smith and Kevin Stewart; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Goldie Andersen
PASCO, Wash. -- Goldie Yvonne Andersen died Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2008. She had been battling Alzheimer's for five years.
She was born April 21, 1940 in Chetopa, Kan. to Carlos and Evelyn McCullough. While growing up in Kansas she enjoyed playing on family farms with her many cousins.
During elementary school she moved to the Tri-Cities area and later attended Chief Joseph Middle School. She then moved to Finley where she married Lavern Stearns and had her first son, Wade. During her stay in the Tri-Cities area she worked various jobs including a local favorite, Zip's burgers as a teenager. Later while working at WOOPS she met and married James Andersen.
He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2008.
Vonnie moved to New Orleans in 1983 and then to Chattanooga, where she and Jim raised their son Dax. Vonnie was a weekly bingo player most of her life. She was an animal lover and donated to numerous animal charities, she tap danced, volunteered and traveled often with Jim.
She is survived by two sons, Wade and Dax; two granddaughters, Afton and Ashlee; as well as aunts and cousins in Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Einan's Funeral Home.
