Beef talk

Good golly there’s a lot of talk about beef these days. Those pictures we all saw on the nightly news of cattle seemingly crippled by disease but still being taken off to slaughter did nothing to help my appetite.

And now, the Intelligence Report in a recent Parade magazine said that a couple of senators — Ted Kennedy and Olympia Snow — have introduced a bill to stop the practice of feeding cattle antibiotics as a routine measure to help curb disease. Eegads! All this has just about convinced me that organic is the way to go. But, after paying $10 for an organic chicken at Greenlife a couple of months ago, I don’t know if I can afford to buy the beef. So, where’s the beef, Clara? Out of my diet for the foreseeable future.
