The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus pitched its big top today in Chattanooga, with tigers, elephants and zebras unloading for a weekend of shows here beginning Thursday.
“Our circus is made of ordinary people who do extraordinary things,” said Jason Gibson, Ringling Bros. production manager.
Mr. Gibson will be among several people putting on the Boom A Ring show at 7 p.m. Thursday. The show is more fast paced than traditional circus events and puts its audience just a few feet from the stage, he said.
“We’re here to create lifelong memories with families,” Mr. Gibson said. “You come here and have fun.”
Shows also are scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s McKenzie Arena.
