Dayton to keep looking for fire chief

DAYTON, Tenn. — Mayor Bob Vincent said today that a second candidate will be offered the fire chief’s post after the city’s first choice declined an offer.

“I expect in the next two days we’ll have that spot filled,” Mr. Vincent told members of the Dayton Kiwanis Club.

Chief Reavley confirmed this afternoon that he had turned down the job, but he wouldn’t say why.

“I'll tell you that I've decided to stay with Hamilton County,” Chief Reavley said.
