Nova fan restores another classic

Phil Dyar, Jr. recently purchased a 1963 Chevrolet Nova that had been sitting in a garage for about six years. Mr. Dyar recently won an award at the Mile Straight Baptist car show for best in process restoration on the 1963 Nova. The Nova has a small block 350 with Turbo trans, weld wheels.

According to Wikipedia the Chevrolet Nova was produced from 1962 through 1979. “Nova originally came with engines that included a 153 in four-cylinder and a 194 in inline six. Although the Nova was not originally available with a V8 option, the engine bay was perfectly proportioned for one. It wasn't long before Chevrolet V8s were offered as dealer-installed options (between 1962 and 1963), up to and including the fuel-injected version available in the Corvette. The combination of readily available V8 power and light weight made the Nova a popular choice of drag racers.”

Mr. Dyar has always been a fan of Novas. In fact he is currently working on the restoration of a 1969 Nova. He takes after his dad in taking pride in everything his drives. He will participate in several shows this year. Mr. Dyar has had about three Novas so far and will probably buy another in the future.
