East Ridge police investigate bank robbery

East Ridge police are investigating a robbery at the SunTrust Bank at 4323 Ringgold Road that occurred about 10:15 a.m. today.

The robber, described as a male wearing blue jeans, a button-down plaid shirt and a baseball hat pulled down around his eyes, presented a note to the teller stating he had a weapon and demanding money, East Ridge Public Safety spokesman Erik Hopkins said in a news release.

He said no weapon was shown. The robber left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and last was seen running east. The FBI also responded to the bank, Mr. Hopkins said.

Anyone with information on the robber, thought to be between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds with a light goatee, should call the East Ridge Police at 867-3720.

A confidential tip line is available 24 hours a day at 867-0016.
