“A straight path never leads anywhere except to the objective.” — Andre Gide
MANY FOLKS remember Liz Morin as “Liz, Liz, the Showbiz Whiz” on the old Lite Mix 105 radio station. Liz, a graduate of Notre Dame High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, fielded calls from listeners trying to stump her on random questions pertaining to Hollywood history.
Liz rarely missed because she has been fascinated with the movie and music industries since childhood. She was known for staging and starring in plays housed in her family’s garage. And she can talk to you for hours about the stars she saw walking the red carpet on Oscar night in Hollywood. She had relatives who lived in Tinsel Town and often visited them during Oscar season.
But it’s what Liz has done since leaving Chattanooga that makes those who know her smile. Liz is living her dream. I received the following news release from Skyline Music in Nashville last week ... and I’m still smiling:
“Liz Morin, one of Nashville’s premiere song pluggers, has signed on with Skyline Music Publishing Group as creative vice president. Morin will join forces with co-founders
Wally Wilson, Chip Voorhis, Texas attorney Glen Morgan, and legendary producer Paul Worley, formerly A&R president, Warner Brothers Records.
“We are very excited to have Liz join us,” said Wilson, managing partner of Skyline. “The timing is perfect, as we are anticipating some big changes this year. We couldn’t be more proud to have Liz playing a big part in Skyline’s bright future.”
Morin has worked in music publishing since 1994, when she began working with Double J Music Group. For the last six years, she has worked for Encore Entertainment as creative vice president. In recent years, Morin has had cuts by
Kenny Chesney, Montgomery Gentry, George Strait, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Trisha Yearwood and many others.
Since opening their doors in 2004, Skyline Music Publishing has scored hits by Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Brooks & Dunn, Pat Green, Terri Clark, Craig Morgan, Aaron Tippin and others.
Congratulations, Liz. The red carpet awaits you.
