Chamber events

North Chattanooga Chamber: The Chamber will meet Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St. The topic will be summer activities and safety on the North Shore. The cost of lunch is $10.

Downtown Chamber: The Chamber will meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sheraton Read House, 827 Broad St. Bob Doak, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will speak about “Tourism: Helping to Grow the Economy.” breakfast is $10 for members and $12 for non-members.

South Chattanooga Chamber: The Chamber will meet at noon Thursday at the South Chattanooga Recreation Center, 1151 W. 40th St. The speaker will be Dan Bowers, president of Allied Arts. The cost of lunch is $10.

Seminars, meetings

Internal Revenue Service: The IRS and the Chattanooga Urban League has designated today as “Super Saturday” and will help retirees, veterans and low-income workers receive an economic stimulus payment. Officials will be offering aid at three locations, Eastgate Mall City Center, 5600 Brainerd Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; IRS Office, 5740 Uptain Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and the Northeast Recreation Center in Cleveland, 264 Berry St. from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

AM Networking: AT&T and The Real Yellow Pages will co-sponsor an event at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Town Center, 5600 Brainerd Road.

Doing Business in Asia: SunTrust Bank and the Chamber will co-sponsor a seminar at 8 a.m. Thursday at SunTrust Bank, 736 Market St. designed for anyone responsible for import decisions. The cost of the seminar is $59. RSVP by check payable to SunTrust Bank.

Chattanooga Insight: Chattanooga Insight will hold a mini-leadership Chattanooga program Thursday and Friday at the Chamber board room. Business Planning: A seminar will be held Thursday at the Tennessee Small Business Center. Topics include basic planning, financial projections, and legal entities. Call 756-8668 to register or for more information.

Business Advice: Free business help available from members of the Service Corps of Retired Executives from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday through Friday at the Franklin Building, suite 515, 5726 Marlin Road, at Eastgate Town Center. For more information, call 553-1722.

Business Planning: Free counseling for business people available from the Chattanooga Small Development Center Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd., suite 202. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays.
