1 dead, 1 hurt in Dodds Avenue shooting

A shooting incident early Sunday has left a man dead and a teen wounded, according to Chattanooga police spokeswoman Lt. Kim Noorbergen.

Just after midnight police were called to a shooting at 1700 Dodds Ave. and upon the arrival officers found Tyrone Stewart 18, in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, Lt. Noorbergen said.

He was transported to Erlanger hospital where he was pronounced dead, she said.

While at Erlanger police were notified that a second shooting victim 17 years of age was en route to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, she said. He was listed in fair condition Sunday, Lt. Noorbergen said.

According to witnesses there was pajama party at 1700 Dodds Ave. and a disorder between rivals turned into a shooting, she said.

No arrest has been reported.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information about this homicide to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 698-2525.
