Body found in Carters Lake

The name and cause of death for a man found Friday in Carters Lake remain a mystery, according to officials with the Murray County, Ga., Sheriff’s Department.

The body of a young white male about 6 feet tall with medium-length brown hair and a goatee was found by a fisherman close to the Talking Rock Bridge, near state Highway 136 and the Gordon County line about 10:30 a.m., officials said.

The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy being performed by the state crime lab, but the death is being considered a homicide, Murray County Sheriff Howard Ensley said.

Authorities said the victim wore a dark John Deere T-shirt, jeans, white socks, white tennis shoes also had body piercings.

Anyone with information about this incident or who know someone whose description matches that of the deceased should call (706) 695-4592, ext. 2, for the sheriff’s office, officials said.
