Five stores fail beer compliance checks

Five stores sold beer to a 19-year-old during a series of compliance checks Friday night, according to a news release from Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Kim Noorbergen.

The Chattanooga Police Department Regulatory Bureau and the Community Anti Drug Coalition across Hamilton County checked 12 stores in the Lookout Valley, Alton Park and Rossville Boulevard areas. Police sent a 19-year-old into the stores, and he was able to purchase beer from five locations: Big H, 618 West 38th St.; Conoco, 4004 Rossville Blvd.; Kambi’s, 2301 Fourth Ave.; Lookout Valley Exxon, 303 Browns Ferry Road; and Rossville Convenience & Gas, 4510 Rossville Blvd.

The stores will appear before the Chattanooga Beer Board at a later date, Lt. Noorbergen said.
