University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's de Groot 16th in regional

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga freshman golfer Emma de Groot is tied for 16th after the second round of the NCAA women’s East Regional at the University of Georgia Golf Course.

The first female UTC golfer to participate in the NCAA playoffs is trying for a spot in the NCAA championship in Albuquerque, N.M. She will need to finish first or second among golfers whose teams don’t advance, and she is tied for fifth in that category, but two teams that are within three strokes of the final team spot could change her standing.

De Groot shot a 4-over-par 76 on Friday and is 5 over heading into the final round today. She had one birdie and five bogeys in round two.
