CULLOWHEE, N.C. — Western Carolina’s Blake Bostic kicked a pair of field goals in the second quarter to give the Catamounts a 13-0 lead over the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga at halftime Saturday at Whitmire Stadium.

Bostic made kicks of 20 and 26 yards for the Catamounts, who haven’t won a Southern Conference game in nearly three years. Backup tailback Levon Curtis, a freshman making his first start, set up Western Carolina’s second field goal of the quarter with a 53-yard run.

The Mocs nearly gave the Catamounts another score late in the quarter when UTC quarterback Jare Gault fumbled while being sacked inside the Mocs’ 10-yard line. Defensive tackle Jeff Bradley recovered the fumble and was tackled at the UTC 1. On the next play, however, Curtis fumbled and UTC cornerback J.D. Dothard recovered at the 1.

At halftime, Western Carolina has run 29 plays for 184 yards, while UTC has just 65 yards on 35 plays. Running back Erroll Wynn leads the Mocs with 14 carries for 43 yards and Chris Pitchford has four receptions for 34 yards.
