Howell, McPherson, Abbott lead in commission race’ liquor by drink heads to approval

With seven of nine precincts reporting, David Howell, John McPherson and Donna Abott are leading in the five-way race for three open seats on the Lakesite City Commission.

Keeping taxes low, cleaning up the area around the Lakesite Marina and improving communication between City Hall and citizens were among the goals candidates said they’d like to accomplish.

Candidates for the seats are Donna Abbott, Valerie J. Boddy, David Howell, Phil Burkett, the incumbent commissioner of public works; and John A. McPherson, commissioner of budget and finance.

Voters were asked to pick the three candidates of their choice. The highest three vote-getters will assume the seats.
