Dalton carpet plant worker Brookshire killed in accident

Authorities are still investigating an industrial accident Monday evening that killed an employee of a Dalton carpet plant.

Bradley Brookshire, 45, of Tunnel Hill, died from massive trauma when he apparently became caught in a carpet-backing machine at the Mohawk Industries plant on Antic Road, according to Whitfield County Coroner Bobbie Dixon.

The accident happened at about 5:50 p.m. Monday, and officials said the cause of the accident is still unknown.

The company’s Safety Department and site management have begun an investigation, Mohawk officials said, and they have notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

An OSHA team is expected to conduct a full investigation.
