CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Citadel’s Terrell Dallas scored on a 7-yard run up the middle on the game’s first drive to put the Bulldogs up 7-0 against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. That’s where the score remained through the end of the first quarter, but on the first play of the second, Dallas scored from the 3-yard line to make it 14-0.
Mocs coach Rodney Allison said during the week that his son, Sloan, could make his first career start today. Instead, Jare Gault started his ninth game of the season and completed a 28-yard pass to Blue Cooper on UTC’s first play from scrimmage.
Sloan did get in the game late in the first quarter when Gault was drilled by linebacker Jordan Gilmore on first down of the Mocs’ third drive.
The Mocs gained just one first down in the opening quarter, on Gault’s pass to Cooper.
