South Pittsburg senior running back

Sept. 26

I’m sitting in my third block class thinking about the big game at Tyner tonight. I’m very confident in my teammates and hope we pull out this big win. It will be a great atmosphere. As Coach Grider says “you play like you practice,” and man we have worked our butts off this week in practice to get ready.

October 5

I just got back home from a visit to the University of Tennessee. I had a great time and wonder if this is the place I need to be. Man, it’s a hard decision when you have several options. The only solution is to sit back and think about it. But I have got to get one more gold ball before I do anything else.

October 11

Last night had to be the best game I ever played in. We beat Boyd-Buchanan 7-6. Boyd came ready to play and gave us a run for our money. I’m a little banged up, but that’s all part of the game. That’s exactly what we needed to get ready for the playoffs.

October 17

I don’t get to play tonight, but it’s fine because we are getting close to playoff time. After the Silverdale game we only have one more regular-season game then it’s showtime. It really does feel good to be this close to it.

October 31

Tonight is Halloween and is also the region championship game at Grace Academy. It’s the last game of the regular season, so I am going to try to have a big game and help secure this title.

November 8

Not feeling too great, but we pulled out the win against Clay County 41-6 in the first round of the playoffs. Today is going to be a long day because I plan on attending two college football games. I will be going to the MTSU vs. Louisiana-Monroe game and then the Florida at Vanderbilt game. No matter what’s happening in my life, football always seems to help me relax.

November 14

Tonight will be my last time playing in Beene Stadium and I’m going to try to make the most of it. If we win, we will have to play the rest of our playoff games on the road. We face a very good Friendship Christian team, and if we don’t play up to our potential we could walk out of here losers. It’s time to put up or shut up, and from the way we’ve been focused this week, we’ll be the ones putting up.

November 17

This week could be the biggest game of my high school career. We get to travel to the Creekbank to take on Trousdale County. It should be a very interesting game and a very crowded one at that. I need to get my teammates and myself ready for another clash of the two best 1A football programs in Tennessee.
