Chattanooga: Bishop named Unum counsel

Liston Bishop III has been named executive vice president and general counsel of Unum Group. He will report to Thomas R. Watjen, Unum’s president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Bishop has been interim general counsel of the Chattanooga-based insurer since February.

He joins Unum after being with Miller & Martin PLLC, a law firm with offices in Chattanooga, Nashville and Atlanta. While there, he practiced corporate and securities law.

Mr. Bishop also has served as vice president and deputy general counsel of Coca-Cola Enterprises, an Atlanta-based soft drink bottling company.
