Whether you support her or not, Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is in the crosshairs of fashion watchers.

The former beauty queen has ignited trends in bouffant hairstyles and, more notably, designer glasses.

“She has done more for glasses than any celebrity in recent history,” said Ange Roth, frame stylist at Epic Optical in downtown Chattanooga.

Ms. Palin’s Kawasaki frames, which retail for about $400, define her look, Ms. Roth said.

Chattanoogan Kathy O’Brien identifies with the look. Friends and strangers have told her she resembles the candidate.

“I travel often for my job, and people come up to me in airports to tell me I look like Sarah Palin,” she said.

Ms. O’Brien, 40, regional enrollment manager at Unum, is a married mother of two. She said she also has been told she looks like Tina Fey, the Emmy Award-winning actress who portrays Ms. Palin on “Saturday Night Live.”
