The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department has identified a residence at 3933 Pattentown Road in the Ooltewah area as the site of a shooting that left one person dead and another injured early Friday.
James Bryan Miller is wanted on criminal homicide charges in the case, according to authorities.
One shooting victim earlier had said the Brainerd area was where the shooting took place, but Chattanooga police could find no evidence of a shooting Friday and turned the case over to the sheriff’s department, according to police Lt. Tim Carroll.
Physical evidence was found that verified the Pattentown Road address was the location of the shooting, according to sheriff’s department Detective Ed Merritt. Several witnesses were located who had been present at the residence and offered details of the shooting, Detective Ed Merritt said.
The witnesses told police that shortly after midnight three subjects forcibly entered the residence wearing face coverings and armed with a long barreled weapon, according to Detective Merritt.
One occupant was James Bryan Miller, who produced a weapon and began firing multiple shots toward the armed invaders, striking two of the individuals, Detective Ed Merritt said.
The subjects fled and later showed up at East Ridge Hospital, where one of the subjects identified as Issac Robinson died from multiple gunshot wounds, Detective Ed Merritt said. Michael Shadden also suffered gunshot wounds to his back area and was hospitalized, police said.
Mr. Miller was identified by occupants of the residence as the person who fired numerous rounds striking both subjects, which ultimately killed Mr. Robinson and wounded Michael Shadden, Detective Ed Merritt said.
Mr. Miller has made no attempt to notify police, summon medical aid, or report the incident to authorities and warrants have been obtained for his arrest on criminal homicide charges, Detective Ed Merritt said.
Anyone with information on Mr. Miller are asked to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 622-0022.
