James Bryan Miller, who is wanted in an early Friday shooting that left one dead and another injured, has been arrested in Whitfield County, Ga., according to Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dusty Stokes.

A call to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department led to Mr. Miller’s capture, Deputy Stokes said.

Mr. Miller faces charges of criminal homicide in the shootings that took place in a home on Pattentown Road in the Ooltewah area. Mr. Miller was taken to the Whitfield County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Hamilton County.

One shooting victim earlier had said the shooting took place in the Brainerd area, but Chattanooga police found no evidence of a shooting Friday and turned the case over to the sheriff’s department.

Witnesses told authorities that three subjects wearing face coverings and armed with a long-barreled weapon forcibly entered the Pattentown Road residence, according to Detective Ed Merritt of the sheriff’s department. Mr. Miller, who was at the residence, shot at the intruders, striking two of them, Detective Merritt said.

Two men later showed up at East Ridge Hospital, where Issac Robinson died from multiple gunshot wounds, Detective Merritt said. Michael Shadden, who suffered gunshot wounds to his back area, was hospitalized, police said.

It seems to me that the wrong person was arrested. If Bryan Miller was defending his home from an invasion that took place, he should not be charged.
