Update: Chattanooga's Brainerd branch of SunTrust bank robbed

by Jacqueline Koch

Chattanooga police and the FBI are investigating a bank robbery that occurred shortly before 10 o’clock this morning at SunTrust Bank at 3535 Brainerd Road.

Police said a man entered the bank, walked up to a teller and asked her for $2,000 in cash in $20 bills.

The man said that if the teller complied there would be no trouble and no one would get hurt, said Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Jerry Weary.

The teller gave the man the money and he left the bank driving away in what police believe is a Red Ford Taurus.

The suspect is described as a white male or possible light complexioned male wearing jeans and a dark shirt.

The suspect was spotted moments after the robbery at the Walgreens on Germantown Road leaving with a barefoot white female wearing a tan shirt and brown capris.

Anyone with information on these suspects is encouraged to call Chattanooga Police at 698-2525 or the FBI Safe Streets Task Force at 265-3601.
