Chattanooga: Rutherford to run again for City Council

Former City Councilwoman Marti Rutherford, who resigned last fall after a residency dispute, says she plans to run for her old seat again.

Ms. Rutherford confirmed this afternoon that she has picked up her qualifying papers for the race and plans to submit them after the presidential election is over in November.

She says that although she still owns a home on Hemphill Drive outside the Brainerd district she once represented, she actually lives in a rented apartment at 405 S. Sweetbriar Ave. She plans to maintain that residence until the council election next March, after which point she may buy another home within District 6, she said.

Ms. Rutherford vacated her seat last October. Pastor Mike Feely took over the seat temporarily until Carol Berz was elected to represent the district in February.
