Howard-Hill challenges Wamp to debate

by Matt Wilson

One of U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp’s opponents in the Nov. 4 election is challenging the Republican incumbent to a debate on his qualifications.

Jean Howard-Hill, formerly a Republican but now running as an independent, said Rep. Wamp should have provided more information to his constituents about the economic bailout bill in Congress. She also called Rep. Wamp’s politics “mean-spirited and exclusionary.”

Dr. Howard-Hill discussed her debate challenge at a news conference at her home today. She said she would want all four candidates for the District 3 U.S. House seat to participate.

Along with Dr. Howard-Hill, Rep. Wamp is facing challenges from Democrat Doug Vandagriff and independent candidate Ed Choate.
