Marion County crash leaves one man dead

An early morning accident in Marion County left a 21-year-old Tullahoma, Tenn., man dead, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

James Griffith II was riding a 2006 Honda CBR motorcycle east on Interstate 24 near Kimball at about 3:30 a.m. today when a tractor-trailer in the westbound lane crossed the median, according to the THP.

Mr. Griffith’s motorcycle struck the tractor-trailer’s cab. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the THP.

The police report stated that truck driver Larry Smith of Lawrenceville, Ga., lost control of his 2003 Freightliner. The truck fishtailed and the tractor separated from the trailer.

The wreck slowed traffic until nearly 8:30 a.m. when debris was cleared.

No other injuries reported.
