The Chattanooga Lookouts concluded a disappointing Southern League second half on a positive note Monday afternoon, defeating Huntsville 2-1 at AT&T Field.
Chattanooga finished the half with a 30-39 record and had a 67-72 record overall. Monday was Jamie Dismuke’s 15th game as Lookouts interim manager, and he wound up with an 8-7 record.
The Lookouts started the bottom of the fourth inning with Chris Heisey singling to left field and Tonys Gutierrez drawing a one-out walk. Drew Anderson’s infield hit scored Heisey for a 1-0 lead, and Eric Eymann followed with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Gutierrez.
Huntsville pulled within 2-1 in the seventh when Michael Garciaparra and Cole Gillespie opened that inning with doubles to center.
Pedro Viola, the only pitcher on Chattanooga’s active roster for the entire season, picked up the victory. Joe Valentine, who worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning, recorded a save.
