Robin Smith, a Republican delegate from Hixson, is sending blogs and photographs to the Times Free Press from the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.
Wednesday at lunch, the Tennessee Delegation gathered on the roof top of a Minneapolis restaurant, enjoying beautiful weather to great food, and buzzing about the anticipated speech of Sarah Palin.
Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker addressed the delegation at an afternoon reception. Sen. Corker spoke of the unnecessary attacks and invasion by Russia into Georgia, its neighbor. The emphasis was on focusing on the role that energy will play in geopolitics of the future.
The evening session featured Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani. Their remarks moved the entire arena to cheers by drawing distinctions between Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama.
Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska rocked the mass of people with her poise, her strength and commitment to principles. All eyes were shifted to the national news boxes at times during her direct address to the “liberal media.” Cheers, whistles, even tears were all part of the 21st century’s definition of a female candidate running for political office as she made her remarks. Sarah Palin wowed the crowd, but demonstrates that the next Reagan will be in heels.
