BOOMER BASICS SCHEDULE

Thursday: “Can’t Smile Without You,” New treatments for trigeminal neuralgia, 5:30 p.m. at Erlanger East.

Dr. Jeffrey Gefter and Dr. Phil Megison discuss this condition, which produces searing facial pain and numbness, occurring most often in women 50 and over. Learn more about the disease and how stereotactic radiosurgery targets specific facial muscles to relieve pain.

Sept. 23: “If I Could Turn Back Time,” New treatments for facial aging, 5:30 p.m. at Erlanger East.

Dr. Mark Brzezienski discusses surgical methods to help boomers stay as youthful-looking as they feel.

Sept. 29: “Every Breath You Take,” Test your lungs, know your numbers, 5:30 p.m. at Erlanger North.

Dr. Frederic “Eric” D. Seifer tells how to evaluate breathing problems and what steps should be taken.

Oct. 7: “Bridge Over Troubled Waters,” Addressing female incontinence, 5:30 p.m. at Erlanger East.

Dr. Norman Galen shares the latest solutions for urinary incontinence.

Oct. 13: “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World, ” Prostate health and treatments, 5:30 p.m. at Erlanger North.

Dr. Amar Singh tells about new, minimally invasive treatments, including a high-powered laser that vaporizes and precisely removes enlarged prostate tissue.

Oct. 21: “Stayin’ Alive,”Why breast cancer screening is so important, 5:30 p.m. at Erlanger East.

Dr. Frank H. Knight tells the latest developments in breast cancer screenings.

Erlanger is again offering Boomer Basics, a health information series geared toward the health concerns and interests of today’s baby boomer generation. The information sessions will focus on healthy aging and medical care for both men and women. Participants will also meet some of the area’s top physicians.

Boomer Basics sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. at either Erlanger East or Erlanger North campuses. The Dinner A’Fare will provide a light meal at all of the sessions.

The series is free, but registration is required because space is limited. Participants may attend one or all six sessions.
