Athens leaders to meet with VW

by Ron Clayton

ATHENS, Tenn. — Volkswagen of America officials will meet here Tuesday with local leaders, students and faculty at Tennessee Wesleyan College, officials said today.

In a news release, VW spokeswoman Jill Bratina said company officials will speak for about an hour at the college about the plant opening in Chattanooga. They will take questions.

McMinn County Economic Director Jack Hammontree has said in past meetings with the Athens City Council and McMinn Commission that the county lies well within the 60-mile radius considered ideal for associated suppliers.
