Star guards commit to basketball Vols
KNOXVILLE — A sour Saturday for the University of Tennessee football team didn’t affect the men’s basketball program.
Point guard Josh Selby and shooting guard Jordan McRae — two of the top 28 high school juniors in the nation, according to Rivals.com — committed to Vols coach Bruce Pearl during weekend visits.
Selby, a 6-foot-1 player from Hyattsville, Mary., is rated by Rivals as the No. 7 high school junior in America and second-best point guard prospect in his class.
McRae, a 6-4 player from Midway, Ga., is rated by Rivals as the nation’s No. 9 junior shooting guard and No. 28 overall prospect.
Selby and McRae give UT three Class of 2010 commitments. Six-foot point guard Aaron Craft from Findlay, Ohio, pledged three weeks ago.
Highly touted power forward Kenny Hall from the Atlanta area is UT’s lone 2009 commitment.
