Ann Aslinger

Judith Ann Aslinger, 53, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.

She was born in New Orleans, and a graduate of Holy Angels High School class of 1973. Ann was raised and baptized in the Catholic faith and later in life accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the Baptist faith. She was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church and in the past, she taught the 4-year-olds' Sunday School Class. Ann retired from BellSouth after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Frank Perniciaro Sr.; and brother-in-law, Donald Roper.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Gary Aslinger; son, Josh Aslinger; mother, Edwina Perniciaro; sisters, Lydia Roper and Ann's twin sister, Lynn Dalon; brother, Frank Perniciaro Jr.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Terry Shannon officiating.

Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Barbee

James L. "Jimmy" Barbee, 68, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at a local hospital.

He was a member of North Hamilton Church of Christ. He dearly loved all his children.

He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Billie Sue Barbee; and sisters, Betty Mahan and Ruth Barbee.

He is survived by daughters, Stacey (Rodney) Leffew, Connie Barbee, Sandy Barbee and Deanna (Kerry) Knowles; son, Jimmy (Teresa) Barbee, all of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Miranda, Samantha, Jessica, Alex, Bobby, Brooke, Erin, Gabby and Sommer.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the funeral home chapel with Minister Jim Stewart officiating.

Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends after noon today, Sept. 23, at the funeral home.

Estelle Bazemore

Estelle Mason Bazemore, 89, of Red Bank, passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, in a local hospital.

She was the wife of the late Cecil E. Bazemore and was also preceded in death by their daughter, Amelda Kay Austin; and her brother, Joel C. Mason.

Estelle was a faithful Christian and had been a member of Red Bank Church of Christ for many years. Her loving smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Eleanor (Ryan) Mitchell, of Hixson; sons, Nathan (Lou) Bazemore, of Soddy, Hiram (Jeanette) Bazemore, of McDonald, and Philip Bazemore, of Red Bank; sister, Johnnie Bazemore, of Red Bank; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with Minister Steve Lusk officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Amy Brooks

Amy Bauerle Brooks, 92, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman W. Brooks; and son, Truman W. Brooks Jr.; parents, John Carl Bauerle and Beulah Chambers Bauerle; sister, Deveron Bauerle Hearn; brother, John Carl Bauerle Jr.

She was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and graduate of University of Chattanooga with a B.S. in education. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She had been active in the Civic Arts League and various Arts organizations. Mrs. Brooks was a former school teacher with the Chattanooga City School system.

She was a faithful member of Brainerd United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, youth worker and choir member.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John Bauerle and Sylvia McDaniel Brooks, Chattanooga; grandsons, Truman W. "Tripp" Brooks III, Asheville, N.C., and Eric D. Brooks, Wilmington, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brainerd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennie Humphries and the Rev. Genevieve DeHoog officiating.

Mrs. Brooks will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

Charles Lee Burkett, 59, of Cleveland, Tenn., died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in a local hospital.

Albert Fuller

Albert Mike Fuller, 85, of Bakewell, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at his home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

He was a member of Bakewell Bible Church were he taught the Men's Sunday School for 50 years. He loved his family, community and his church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a lifelong member of the Republican Party. He was co-owner and operated Mike and Weldon's Barber Shop in Hixson for many years and served on the Tennessee Barber Board. He was program chairman for the Parkinson's disease support group at Siskin's Rehab. Center and past president of the Sale Creek High School Alumni Association. He was a board member of the Union Fork, Bakewell Utility District.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Fuller; brother, William, Harry, Jack, Grover, Tillman, Charles and Elmer Fuller; sisters, Mammie Ownby, Mattie Scott and Beatrice Rievley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances Fuller; daughter, Joy (Dennis) Welch, of Soddy-Daisy.

Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Kenneth Bolton officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robin T. Gann, 61, of Chattanooga, was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008.

He was born March 21, 1947.

Malcolm Holmes

Malcolm B. Holmes, 74, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Holmes was a U.S. Army veteran and Baptist by faith. He worked as store manager for the Holmes Stores, Pruett's and Buy Rite. He also worked as a security guard for Pinkerton.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jamie Holmes; several aunts, uncles, sisters and brother.

He is survived by son, Scott Holmes and wife, Lena, of Hixson; brother, Don Holmes, of Dayton; and sister, Noleeka Millard, of Hixson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating.

Ryan Alexander Long, 22, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008.

Alex was a native and lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. He was a 2004 graduate of Hixson High School and was attending Chattanooga State Community College. Alex was currently employed with Hamilton Place Cinemas 10–17 and was of the Baptist faith. He loved Star Wars, playing video games and going to the movies.

Alex was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William J. Powell and James L. Long Sr.

He is survived by his parents, Claudia Powell Long and James "Jim" L. Long Jr.; a sister, Laura Sanders and her husband, Chris; grandmothers, Nola Powell and Zoolah Long.

Earl Schorr

Earl James Schorr, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Schorr was born in Cardington, Ohio, to Henry and Bertha Schorr. He lived most of his life in Ohio until retiring to the Chattanooga area.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Jennie Schorr; daughter, Barbara Muir; son, Gary (Judith) Schorr; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Howland officiating.

A former resident of Kalamazoo, Mich., she has lived in the Chattanooga area for the past five years and was a member of Our Lady of Prepetual Help Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Teen Shattuck, Chattanooga; three sons, Pat Williams, Athens, Tenn., Len Williams, Kalamazoo, and Mark Williams, Three Rivers, Mich.; two grandchildren, David Williams and Tabitha Curtis.

Tammy Renee York, 49, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.

She attended the Cathedral of St. John in Savannah, Ga., and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chattanooga. She graduated from the Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing in 1980. After her sight failed, she retired from Cigna Insurance in September of 2007.

She was preceded in death by her father, Don Ward; half brother, Mitch Ward; and her paternal grandmother, Dorothy McFadden.

Survivors include her mother, Jo Evelyn Cooper; stepfather, Billy C. Cooper; half brother, Mike Ward; half sister, Donna Cochrane; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Edith Cooper, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at the home of her son on Lookout Mountain, Ga.

She was a member of Lookout Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church, she was buried there and awaits the coming of her Lord in the clouds of Heaven.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne and Tonia Holland, of Soddy-Daisy, and Richard and Debra Holland, of Lookout Mountain; two granddaughters, Jennifer Magness, of Flintstone, and Sara Vela, of Michigan; eight nieces and nephews, Elden Sorenson, of Washington, Bob Butler, Gene Butler, Dennis Butler, Evelyn Walter, Ronald Sorenson, Patty Saathof and Darlinda Stotz, all of California and Gary Carver, of Kodiak, Alaska.

A Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Lookout Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church at 5501 Highway 157 on Lookout Mountain, Ga.

CHICKAMAUGA -- Middleton Denson Durham, 62, departed this life Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008.

He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia, was owner operator of Durham's Backhoe Service for over 38 years, and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fairres Middleton Durham.

Survivors include his son, Mid Durham; mother, Judy Durham; brother, Milton Durham; sister, Pat Holland; grandson, Middleton Joseph Durham, all of Chickamauga; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, in the chapel with the Rev. A.C. Durham officiating.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon House Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, James Walter "Jimmy" and Amy Williams, Jason Daniel "Danny" and Mary Juanita Williams, all of Fort Payne; grandchildren, Decoda Williams, Emily Williams, Dominic Williams; brothers, Roy E, Williams LaFayette, Ga. and Robert Lee Williams, Crossville; sisters, Peggy Golden, Rainsvi]le, Roena Trammell, of LaFayette, and Bettye Ann Bates, of Tunnel Hill, Ga.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. CDT Wednesday at Minvale Baptist Church with the Rev. David Marshall officiating.

Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. CDT today at Wilson Funeral Home, Fort Payne.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Sav-A-Life of Dekalb County.
