Yay Sun, Boo Snow!

by Sean Phipps

Seriously, why is Spring being such a wuss? 70 degrees one day, then the next it’s literally freezing. Thank goodness there is still some great music to be had out there. This week’s MUSICcast is a look at some of my favorite “new” music that has been released recently. Here’s a breakdown:

Snow Day - Blues Control: This sounds like something right out of Twin Peaks. I love it. You will too.

Will You Dance with Me? - Jeremy Jay : This young ‘un creates some of the catchiest songs you’ll hear. This has a groovy, intoxicating bass-line with a subject matter we can all relate to...asking someone to dance.

Country of the Future - Mirah: This a great song off a great album from a great up and coming artist.

Get Up Clara - Richard Shindell: Richard has created my new favorite album of late. It’s folky, singer/songwriter done right. I’m not sure if this song is about a woman or his little girl, but I love it. Catchy.

Born 2 Be Fly - The Fly Girlz: This is a group of 5 girls from New York between the ages of 12-14. They wrote all the songs for their album with the help of a DJ. I can’t get this out of my mind. Perhaps, I was just Born 2 Be Fly?

Listen here.
