New downtown theater to boost movie seating

Chattanooga filmgoers soon will have a new venue to watch movies. A new Carmike cinema is scheduled to open in November, replacing the Bijou on Broad Street. The new theater will feature stadium seating and will have double the capacity of the current downtown theater.

There are a number of theater options for local moviephiles: educational 3D films at the Tennessee Aquarium’s Imax theater, discounted second-run showings at Regal Hamilton Place and independent film series at the Carmike Bijou.

Some cinemas go beyond simple movies. The East Ridge Rave features a party room and an arcade room.
