Chattanooga Market opens to plant, crafts lovers

    Staff Photo by Margaret Fenton The opening day of the Chattanooga Market drew between 8,000 and 10,000 people to the First Tennessee Pavilion on Sunday. Several vendors sold out and packed up early and a number of others maxed out their sales.

Shoppers packed the Chattanooga Market today, buying tomato plants, herbs and locally produced arts and crafts.

About 10,000 people helped boost the market on its opening day, according to General Manager Paul Smith, who said he was optimistic for a strong season.

“I think it was just Chattanooga was ready to come back out into the sunshine,” he said.
