2 students charged in Ooltewah High fires

Two Ooltewah High School students were arrested about noon today in connection with two small fires set at the school Wednesday.

After an investigation into the fires, two ninth-graders were arrested and booked on charges of aggravated arson, reckless endangerment and disrupting an assembly, said Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner.

The two juveniles reportedly started the fires in two different restrooms at opposite ends of the school shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Both fires were extinguished quickly and there was no damage to the building, Mr. Garner said.

The school had to be evacuated, but no one was injured.
