The National Association of Counties (NACo) is pleased to announce that Hamilton County has received the 2009 Outstanding Performance Award from NACo in recognition of outstanding utilization of the NACo Prescription Discount Card Program. “The award demonstrates that our residents are benefiting from the NACo Prescription Discount Card Program,” said Mayor Claude Ramsey.
“Since the prescription discount card program was introduced on Valentine’s Day 2007, our residents have already saved almost four million dollars on their medications which is very timely during these hard economic times,” stated Mayor Ramsey. “Through our association with NACo, Hamilton County can offer this program at no cost to our county taxpayers. With the rising cost of daily living expenses this is one way we are able to help our residents to offset some of their out-of-pocket costs. Our residents should take advantage of the free prescription discount cards to save money on their prescriptions!”
Andrew Goldschmidt with NACo stated, “This Outstanding Performance Award demonstrates the exceptional job Hamilton County did in providing the prescription discount cards to their residents.” This success validates how Hamilton County has made a difference for their residents by helping them afford their medications. As of 2005, counties such as Hamilton County have contributed to the more than $187 Million in total savings to residents nationwide.
The program is easy to use and there are no restrictions on how many times the prescription discount card can be used. Cards are available at 100 county-wide locations, including: most pharmacies, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bi-Centennial Library branches and all Hamilton County Health Departments offices. Additionally residents can print a personal ID card conveniently from the Internet at www.caremark.com/naco or call toll free 1-877-321-2652 for assistance with the program.
The discount card program is administered by CVS Caremark.
