Tennessee: Ex-mayor of Calhoun charged in post-meeting fight

CALHOUN, Tenn. — The former mayor of Calhoun has been charged with assault following a fist fight with the town's city manager after a city commission meeting.

The Daily Post-Athenian newspaper reports that after commissioners met Wednesday at the Calhoun library, former Mayor John Walker and City Manager David Wilson started punching each other.

The newspaper reported Thursday that the 46-year-old Walker was arrested and posted a $500 bond. He could not be reached by telephone for comment.

Commissioners Clifton Coleman and Carlos Liner and a woman who had attended the meeting, Michelle Whaley, also got involved in the fray that started after Walker asked why commissioners met before the regularly scheduled September meeting.

Commissioners discussed allowing Wilson to drive a city car home.
